Humans of Chestnut: Crystal Benjamin (April 2025)

At Chestnut in Asheville, we love celebrating the amazing people who bring so much personality and hospitality to the restaurant. Each month, our Humans of Chestnut series highlights a team member who makes a difference both in our dining room and behind the scenes.

This month, we’re excited to introduce Crystal, one of our wonderful servers! Usually part of the Corner Kitchen family, Crystal is temporarily serving at Chestnut while Corner Kitchen is being rebuilt. Crystal has been a fantastic addition to our team.

I’ve been with the company for three and a half years—four years in July.

How has the transition been from Corner Kitchen to Chestnut?

The transition has been good. I had to find my flow, it’s different with having bartenders and such a large restaurant. I’m so glad to have had this opportunity to work with the Chestnut crew.

I’d love to cruise to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

What has been your favorite dish at Chestnut and which dish do you miss from Corner Kitchen?
