Humans of Chestnut: Arah Wells (January 2024)

Meet Arah Wells, Chestnut’s Front of House Manager and January’s Humans of the Month.

Kicking off 2024, we’re proud to spotlight our outstanding Front of House Manager, Arah Wells, as our first Humans of the Month. Arah embodies a delightful blend of charm, dedication, creativity, and true leadership. Keep reading to delve deeper into Arah’s life.

Experience and Background:

Q: How long have you worked at Chestnut and what’s your position?

A: I’ve worked at Chestnut for a little over a year and a half. I’m a front of house manager.

Q: How long have you been managing the front of house and what was your position before FOH manager?

A: I’ve been a front of house manager since February, so about 10 months, and before that I was serving.

Personal Insight:

Q: Where are you from?

A: I’m from the Raleigh area, so more central North Carolina, but I’ve lived in Asheville for almost seven years now.

Q: What’s your sign?

A: I am a cancer; a water sign.

Q: what do you like to do outside of work?

A: I mostly hang out with friends. We do a game night every week. That’s always a lot of fun. We play board games and card games, which we love. I cook food, make drinks, and then outside of that I make some art. I do paintings and drawings, but I dabble in some other mediums as well.

Q: What’s your favorite dish at Chestnut?

A: The Shrimp and Grits for sure. Last year we had a mushroom gnocchi. That was pretty tasty too.

Aspirations and Favorites:

Q: What’s something on your bucket list?

A: I’d like to travel more of the United States, as well as travel outside of it and go to places like Japan, Germany, Iceland, and Switzerland.

Q: Do you have any long term goals?

A: Buy a house eventually. Maybe not in Asheville, but possibly somewhere on the Gulf Coast or somewhere else in the United States. My partner and I have two dogs and three cats. We have a big house right now, but would love a big yard for them.

Q: Can you tell us a little more about your dogs?

A: One of our dogs is 120 pounds, and the other one is a puppy, but is expected to get about 70 pounds. Our oldest, Cooper, is a St. Bernard mix. Then the puppy that we have is a little under three months, Billy Idol. He is an Australian shepherd mix.

Big thanks to Arah for everything she contributes to Chestnut and the continuous flow of positivity she brings along. We look forward to another great year with our Chestnut team located in the heart of downtown Asheville serving up delicious seasonal bites and homemade treats. Cheers to a new year!
