We are saying goodbye to our former social media content creator and manager Matthew Westmoreland as he and his fiancée move to Ohio! Matthew managed the social media for Chestnut and our sister restaurant Corner Kitchen through the early stages of our pandemic reopening, and helped launch our video recipes with Joe and Frankie on Youtube. In his place we are welcoming Jamie Dorough, who will help push our social media forward to even greater heights. We’re excited to keep growing our online presence and communication to all of you with Jamie at the helm.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I’m a military kid, so I’m not really from one place. I worked in quick service restaurant on the Disney college program in 2013, then moved to Asheville in 2016 after graduating from Auburn. I have a black lab and a one-eyed black cat, both of which have people names! I’m also married to a chef, and run my own podcast about TV & film. Little bit of everything.

Do you have any food recommendations in town that people should try?

When it comes to recommendations in town, I could name a bunch. But to throw a curve ball, instead of a place for a meal, I’m gonna recommend a place for dessert! The French Broad Chocolate lounge has amazing desserts, truffles and drinks.

What do you like about the restaurant business that draws you to this kind of work?

Restaurants have always been a gathering place, not just for people coming together to dine, but for creative people to explore new ideas for food. Any type of creative process really draws me in and I love that I’ll be able to share not just the food, but also the people & their stories for each restaurant.
