Humans of Chestnut – Taylor Hickman

Hi, my name is Taylor Hickman and I am the Reservation Host & Special Events Coordinator for Chestnut and Corner Kitchen!

How long have you worked for Chestnut?
Just shy of 2 years.

What’s the best meal you’ve had at Chestnut?
I am a huge salad lover. I order the Kale Salad every day for lunch at Chestnut. I’m not exaggerating…I can’t get enough of the Marcona Almonds. Unfortunately it’s not on the menu anymore but I’m hoping it will come back :).

What kitchen tool could you not live without?
A measuring cup. I like knowing everything is precise.

If you could only have one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I don’t know if this really counts as a “meal” but I would probably have to say Ice Cream. There are so many flavors and toppings to pick from. It’s beautiful.

What’s the worst meal you’ve ever had?
That’s a tough one. I haven’t had many but one vivid memory does come to mind. I was staying at a friends house and her dad made us Livermush sandwiches. It was not the best way to start the day.

What’s your favorite food movie? 
Chef. Food trucks are super popular now so it was interesting to watch a movie that is relevant to today’s trend.

A story about a favorite regular…
A group of about eight people that come into Chestnut every year on Halloween. They sit at the table in the front window and they are so entertaining. They arrive all dressed up in costumes. It’s awesome that they select Chestnut every year. I think it’s great that they enjoy our company just as much as we enjoy theirs.

What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why did you choose to watch it?
The Real Housewives of New York City. I’m pretty much obsessed with any show on Bravo TV. They are so ridiculous and dramatic. Yet so entertaining at the same time.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be?
Italy 󾓩. I would love to have a diet that consisted of Margherita Pizza, Pasta and red wine. When I wasn’t consuming mass amounts of carbs I would love to spend time looking at the architecture and any type of museum or gallery.
